Description:
‘Saman, you know that you have suffered at my hands. You know what a vile man I was. It makes me miserable to think of my brutalities. You deserved to be treated with dignity but I was cruel to you. That was the main reason for our troubles. When will God make the people here realize the worth of our women? A woman can live cheerfully in adversity, she can live by the sweat of her brow, as long as she is treated with dignity and love in her home. Without these no woman can be happy even if she lives in a palace.’
A beautiful and ambitious woman is trapped in a culture and a social order that binds her instincts and natural desires with the strictest of constraints. Her life is the business of everybody around her, and is shaped by their expectations and their censure.
