Read about the geopolitical, historical, and sociological forces that have shaped the Pakistan of today; learn the history behind the armed forces from the earliest times through Mughal and colonial eras to the modern age; explore the most exciting moments of Pakistan’s military history; and read personal accounts of some of Pakistan’s unforgettable heroes.
Review:
For those who have from time to time thought about joining the forces but needed just that extra push- this book gives a shove.
Soon after independence India had conveniently failed to supply the agreed amount of weaponry to Pakistan. Following this unjust sharing of resources many experts had written Pakistan off. It was this vulnerable position that India tried taking advantage of in the 1965 war. So confident was General Chaudhri in his superior force that he invited his other Indian colleagues for drinks at the Lahore Gymkhana; the day the war broke out.

The gap that was left in the Pakistan armory was soon to be filled by the courage and determination of the people. Be it land, air or sea the young guns of Pakistan, powered by faith and patrioticism have excelled in all departments. Indeed during the 65’ thrashing of India, a foreign reporter querying Pakistan’s supremacy over India despite its inferior numbers was answered by the GOC of Pakistan in these words,” If courage, bravery and patriotism were purchasable commodities then India could have got them along with American aid”.
The narration takes us into the heart of training as armed forces prepare for the future battles. We join the cadets during their training and then follow them as they sharpen their skills for future confrontations with enemies. We feel the courage seep into our souls as PAF pilot Mukhtar Dogar defies two Indian Tempest aircrafts by way of some death defying maneuvers.
The book is a salute to the armed forces of Pakistan as the team from Camerapix shines in its presentation. Amin and Willett's photography and Tetley’s narration come under a different publisher but with the same results. It analyzes the Pakistani and Indian arm strengths in detail, weapon by weapon-man for man. Chinese built Huangfen-class missile boats, The Sea King helicopter, T-59 tanks and the F-16s all with their complete specifications and abilities are on display for the reader to evaluate.
