Description:
Waris Shah's epic in verse Heer has been a favourite of village
minstrels and renowned urban singers alike. Every folk singer of
Punjab loves to render Heer in much the same way as every ghazal
singer loves to sing Mirza Ghalib's verse.
S.M. Shahid presents the story of Heer briefly before presenting
verses from the poem and their Urdu translations side by side. The
accompanying CD presents Waris Shah's verse in different voices -- Reshma, Mehdi Hasan, Tufail Niazi, Ghulam Ali, Iqbal Baho, Inayat Bhatti, Zahida Perveen, Hamid Ali Billa and Sain Akhtar.
